TelaDocTM  - Frequently Asked Questions

TELADOC FAQs

Q: Does Teladoc replace my regular primary care physician?

A: No. Teladoc is not intended to replace your primary care physician (PCP). The Teladoc physician network is available to help you manage your healthcare when your PCP isn't available (in the middle of the night or on weekends).

Q: What are the qualifications of the consulting physicians?

A: All consulting physicians are US Board Certified and state licensed. All Teladoc physicians go through a detailed credentialing process before they are certified to join the Teladoc Physician Association.

Q: How do I request a consultation with a physician?

A: After completing the registration process and your medical history disclosure (MHD), logon to your account at www.Teladoc.com and request a consult or simply call 1.800.Teladoc any time day or night and a representative will request your medical consult.

Q: How quickly may I speak with a Teladoc physician?

A: Our average call back time is usually under thirty minutes, but all calls are guaranteed within three hours. Note: If a member misses the call from the consulting physician (away from phone), he is returned to the waiting list and his three hour guaranteed time period starts over. After three missed calls, the consult request is cancelled.

Q. What is a Medical History Disclosure (MHD) and electronic health record (EHR)?

A: Your MHD contains information similar to the forms you complete when you visit a physician’s office. Your EHR is a combination of your MHD and your Teladoc physician consult information. Your EHR is portable and free!

Q. How can I obtain a receipt for my registration fee (if registering over the phone) to submit for reimbursement towards my Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA) with my company?

A: You can access your account online and print a copy of the insurance claim form (CMS1500).
